Commercial specialty contractors · Front Range, Colorado

The job went fine.
The margin didn't.

A handoff lives in one person's head. A missing signed ticket holds up the pay app until the problem comes back to the owner.

I help owner-led commercial specialty contractors, usually 15 to 150 people, find that break and fix it on one real job.

The recurring problem

None of it looks like much on its own.

The visible problem may show up at billing. The break often happened weeks earlier in a handoff, approval, or field change. I follow the job back to that break.

Sound familiar?

  • Turnover depends on what one person remembers
  • Signed tickets and backup have to be chased
  • The field and the report tell different stories
  • The final decision still lands on the owner

Who this is for

Built around commercial specialty trades.

Owner-led commercial specialty contractors on the Front Range, usually 15 to 150 people, with several crews and PMs.

Mechanical/HVAC, electrical, commercial plumbing, fire protection, and low voltage are the clearest fit.

Where we start

Contractor Operations Sprint

Five days on the problem you're tired of having. I find where it actually breaks, and we fix something before I leave.

Five working days describes the effort rather than the calendar. Most sprints run across seven to ten days so I can be there when the work is actually happening.

  1. Day 1

    Walk one job

We choose one real job and follow it from estimating through the field, billing, and you.

  2. Day 2

    Find where it breaks

We find where the information stopped moving and choose the part we can fix now.

  3. Day 3

    Build the fix

I build the smallest useful fix in the tools your team already has.

  4. Day 4

    Run it on real work

We use it on live work, listen to the people doing the job, and cut the steps they will not keep.

  5. Day 5

    Hand you the keys

We name the owner, agree on what leadership should watch, and put the next 90 days in order.

What you have when I leave

  • The break, in plain language
  • One fix running on real work
  • A person accountable for it
  • The next 90 days in order

What I need from you

One recent job, the people who touched it, and somebody who can make a decision while we are working.

Who you get

You work directly with me, Dmitri Sunshine.

I've spent more than twenty years working inside owner-led companies where information shows up too late to use. I founded and ran an ERP software company, and I work directly with the people using the process.

Construction is a newer focus. I start with one real job, follow it end to end, and fix what we can test while I am there.

I am based in Boulder and work in person across Colorado's Front Range.

Scope and price

A small first engagement with clear edges.

Most first sprints run $6,000 to $12,000. Where it lands depends on the company, the problem, and how much building the fix takes.

Half holds the start date. The balance is due at the final working session. Front Range travel is included.

Edges

  • A full ERP or project-management implementation
  • Large data cleanup
  • Bookkeeping or month-end close
  • Legal, tax, safety, HR, or transaction advice

Work beyond those edges needs its own scope.

Walk me through one recent job.

Show me where the problem started and what it held up. Twenty-five minutes is enough to decide whether a sprint is worth doing.
